What Would I Knit?

One of my favorite things about knitting is planning my next project. I don’t do this very often anymore. Most of the things I knit are new designs, so sure I’m planning a project, but it’s very different. I used to look through my stash, then scour all of my resources for the perfect pattern to match one of my yarns. Sometimes I would find a project and then choose the yarn, both ways were great. The design process is quite different, but this post is about fantasizing what I would knit, if I had the time.

So, if I had the time these are the things that I would be knitting!

I was drawn to this sweater the very first time I saw it. I love the garter stitch yoke and simple elegance of this cardigan. Of course if I were to actually knit it I would knit it all in one piece and opt for a fitted sleeve, but its the beauty of the original design that makes my mind wonder, how would I make it and how would I wear it?

I’ve been a fan of Veera Välimäki since I first saw the Stripe Study Shawl. I’ve bought the patterns for both Stripe Study and Color Affection, but haven’t found the time to knit either. I have even picked out colors for the Color Affection! (In case you’re wondering, they are shades of blue)

There are a few reasons why I love this next project, and a few reasons why I will probably never knit them. Why I love them: 1. They are so stinking cute! 2. I love the photo of the two hands playing patty-cake Now here’s why I’ll never actually make them: 1. I live in NC, it’s not very cold here very often 2. I’ve designed and knit my fair share of gloves/mittens already, and have no need for more living in such a warm climate 3. I don’t enjoy fair isle very much.
