Snow Day!

Brian had a snow day on Thursday. It snowed about 3″ here on Wednesday night, and then it snowed most of the day Thursday too. So we figured since we didn’t take any snowy photos a couple weeks ago when it snowed, it was time we went out and took advantage of the beautiful winter background! So here are a few photos in the snow! I’m wearing my Two Hands Make A Heart Mittens, my Rainbow Love hat, and my … Read More

Louet Spring 2014

I’m really excited to have two patterns in the Louet Spring 2014 collection. I really love both of these garments, and I think they are great wardrobe staples that I could imagine myself wearing throughout the warm weather months. Abita This all started with a swatch. I had the idea for a pleat with peakaboo lace, and I wasn’t sure where it belonged. The pleat came first, and then the sweater. I’m in love with the finished sweater! GEMS fingering … Read More

Chunky Cabled Hat & Scarf

Last week the new Bulky Collection 2013 from Knit Picks was published! You can see my pattern, the Chunky Cabled Hat & Scarf, here. Personally I’m not a huge fan of scarves that aren’t reversible. I’m not one of those people who can always look ‘just so’ and thus I need accessories that are flexible. Shawls don’t have to abide by this rule because usually I wear them like kerchiefs, and those tend to stay put a little better. So … Read More

FO Friday: Ginny’s Cardigan

I finished my Ginny’s Cardigan about a month ago, and I finally took pictures of it last weekend. I’m really happy with how mine came out, it has 0 ease and fits me perfectly! Here are a few photos. I made mine in Classic Elite Woodland in Silver. Also mine was the second size, I have a 36 3/4″ bust, and I did the short rows for a C cup. I also have a few thoughts on finishing of this … Read More

New Pattern! Harrington Shawlette

Some patterns just seem to take FOREVER. This is one of those. I don’t really know all the reasons why this has taken so long. I know a few, but we won’t go into all of those… I originally knit this in January 2012. There were some issues with the chart, and there were no written directions, so I re-wrote the entire thing once. I also submitted this pattern to a couple publications and it was rejected, which causer further … Read More

Pandora Cardigan

The new Knitscene Summer 2013 issue is already available online, and will soon be available in your LYS! I’m super excited to have a pattern in this issue. One of the hardest parts of writing knitting patterns for magazines is that you have to keep the secret for such a long time between getting the idea accepted, knitting the sample, and finally having the pattern published. Today I’ll be sharing my inspiration for the Pandora Cardigan. I hope you’ll all … Read More

Kindelope!

I posted about this pattern way back in October. It was meant to be part of the Malabrigo October Stockpile challenge, of designing patterns that require only one skein of Malabrigo. I can’t remember why now, but for some reason it didn’t get published on time. Then it sat around on my computer for months and months, until last week I all of a sudden remembered this pattern and thought “hey, I should publish it!” then I asked Brian if … Read More

WIP Wednesday

There was recently a discussion on the designer’s group on Ravelry about finding time for ‘personal’ knitting. Honestly before I started working in a yarn shop it had probably been a year since I had followed someone else’s pattern. Now that I work in a shop I knit shop samples, which occasionally are my patterns, but more often someone else’s pattern. This is such a huge pleasure to me. Knitting another designer’s pattern is like a mental vacation. I get … Read More

What were you doing at 8 o’clock this morning?

I was standing outside taking photos of pillows and sneezing. I’ve just finished my first pattern for the Knit Picks Independent Designer Program: Cable Doodle Doo, a set of cabled pillows. They feature Knit Picks new 100% acrylic yarn Knit Picks Brava. They are soft, and you can put them in the washing machine and dryer, which seems very practical to me since pillows tend to get a fair amount of wear and tear.  Brian came up with the name, … Read More

Another new pattern!

Part of why I have been able to publish so many patterns so quickly is because I wrote some of these patterns some time ago. Today I’m publishing the Bamboo Baby Dress pattern, available in 3 sizes 18″, 19″, and 20″ chest. I was originally given this variegated bamboo yarn by Lotus to design a women’s top. It turned out absolutely hideous. I was about halfway through a top, with a keyhole opening on the back, and the yarn was … Read More

Anime Infinity

I know I promised that I would finish the short rows tutorial this week with info about how to use short rows. It’s coming, I promise. Part of why it’s been delayed a bit is because I’ve been getting new patterns ready to be published! This pattern is for the Anime Infinity Scarf. This scarf was inspired by the yarn, Anime by ArtFibers, which I received from Brian for Christmas. I received two skeins, and I knit a lacy baktus with … Read More

Bunny Mail Project Continues: Bunny Kits!

I wish I could mail you all little bunnies as part of my bunny mail project, but alas I don’t have time to knit so many little bunnies (not that I have a huge following, but enough to make knitting everyone a bunny a scary thought). So, I would like to give everyone the opportunity to enter in a drawing to receive a bunny kit! What is a bunny kit you ask?  Well a bunny kit is a little bit … Read More

Bunny Mail

I’m currently working on a couple new difficult designs. They lead to lots of ripping out yarn and angry looks at my scribbled notebook. I felt like I needed a break from this exercise in frustration, and took a look around the internet for some inspiration. I found this post from Giverslog about sending plastic easter eggs in the mail, then saw these tiny bunnies. Then when I went to the grocery store yesterday they had 6 plastic eggs for $1. So last … Read More

Punisher Hat

posted in: chart, comic books, hat, patterns, punisher | 0

Brian asked me for this Punisher hat on Ravelry about 4 months ago. I finally cast on as a quick in-between project, but of course, it wasn’t meant to be. I found the chart made from a free online website hard to read, so I had to create my own chart. Also, Brian has a giant head so I had to make the hat larger. Anyways, here are my own instructions for creating a large Punisher hat. A picture of the finished … Read More
